Haloween Dinner

Hubby and I had a Halloween dinner at Texas Roadhouse. There were lots of people came in and I saw some of them wore their halloween costumes. I told hubby I have never worn any halloween costumes even while in the Philippines. He asked me earlier if I want to dressed up for Halloween but I thought it's only good if you are going to a Halloween party but when I saw people from the restaurant I told hubby I should have dressed up for the Halloween too. Hubby told me I could have, we could have went to the store and bought my costume. Then he said "well next year you can wear your halloween costume you like, now you know that you can dressed up for the Halloween anywhere you go even if you don't go to a Halloween party".

Mom's Flight Reservation

Lunch with hubby at Golden Corral

Hubby and I just got back from lunch at Golden Corral couple of hours ago. He got off from work early since it's his last day of work today as he will have his 3 days off starting tomorrow. Lunch was good and since Golden Corral was just near by Sam's Club I told hubby that we need to buy some laundry stuffs since we were out of Tide laundry soap, Downy fabric conditioner and Bounce. Hubby was a little exhausted since he just got off from work, I just went to Sam's Club by myself and hubby just waited for me in the car outside the store. I didn't take me long to grab the things I needed and thank God there were only few customers line up to the cashier that I was able to check out right away. We dropped by AllState Insurance to pay our auto insurance then headed our way home.

Cooking for Dinner

It's Friday and hubby's two younger children Jacob and Josh will be back home this afternoon to spend the entire week with us. Since they love green beans, that what I'm cooking right now. I put some slices of bacon with it, garlic, unions and seasoned with salt and pepper. I used those green beans in cans that are already cut. I am also going to fry some chicken wings in addition to the green beans. These will be our dinner for tonight.

3. Carry important papers with you; NEVER check anything that you simply cannot afford to lose. Photocopy your passport, driver's license and credit cards.

4. Bring a small flashlight. You never know when you'll suddenly be "in the dark" and find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings. At night, keep your flashlight by your bed.

5. Make sure that your prescription medicines are filled properly and labeled accurately. In some countries certain prescription medicines are forbidden.

Our planter box used to be full of plants on it but the plants started dying when one of our cats “August” began going potty on it even if she had a cat litter box in the bathroom. I guessed she had discovered that it’s a good place to go potty because there’s dirt on it as she was used to be an outdoor cat. We tried to replant some in the planter box but it didn’t work because August still kept doing her bad habits until we decided to get rid of her so solve our problem. We gave her back to hubby’s younger brother who was supposed to be August’s real owner. We are thinking about putting new plants on the planters to make it look better now that August is gone.

NNAAP is scheduled on Nov. 15th

I already got a letter from Pearson Vue where my application for registration to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) was submitted for my CNA certification. My examination is scheduled on Nov 15th in Delta, Colorado which is approximately 45 minutes from Grand Junction. It's ging to be a 2 part test written and skills evaluation.

I feel like sick

It's been two days that I felt my throat is sore and my nose is clogged. I felt like getting sick and hubby feels the same way too. Jacob had colds and cough when he was here with us and I guess we got it from him. Though mine and hubby is not that bad but hopefully it won't get worse.

Busy Day

Have been busy doing laundry most of the day and did some cleaning in the house. Hubby just got back to work from his 4 days off. If hubby's at home can't do much chores in the house because hubby prefers to spend the day outside the house doing some errands, grocery, meeting with mom, eating out and just goofing off. By the time he goes back to work, I am left with so much chores to do in the house but that's ok. Tuesday Morning

Good morning everyone! How's your Tuesday morning so far? Mine is good but chilly. I got up at 6:15 am to prepare breakfast for my step children before they go to school. I cooked cheese grits and eggs and they love it even if you fed them with it everyday because it's their favorite. They don't complain, lucky me! Ha,ha,....

Hubby is still asleep, he needs to sleep in because it's his days off and it's only days he could get more sleep. He usually wakes up at 3:50 a.m. when he has work although I wake up with him during those days I can go back to sleep when he leaves the house for work.

Hubby and I went to Sam's Club today to buy some stuffs we need for the house and look for some stuffs to add into our food storage. Autumn Chill

It's getting colder and colder everyday since the Autumn season has started. It's freezing cold to me even if it's not winter yet. The temperature outside is 39 F according but it's 61.4 F in the house and it's freezing tundra to me. Hubby, Nichole and Jacob went to the park and do metal detecting. I told hubby I can't go with them because it's too cold for me I'm gonna die of hypothermia, ha,ha just kidding.

Old Coins

We did another metal detecting this afternoon after hubby got home from work. We just did it in our front yard and still we are finding old coins like dimes, nickels and some quarter coins dated 1966, 1979 and one was 1991. Other coins were too old and corroded that they can't be read. Hubby is excited to go out metal detecting in the park or other places on his days off from work next week.

This was the question I asked myself when my other blog's PR3 became "No Page Rank Information Available". I just noticed it a minute ago and I thought something was wrong with my PR Checker coz sometimes I saw PR3 on my other blog and sometimes it's gone. Now, I finally convince myself that it was gone. I don't know what happened why google took it away, that was a very short time enjoying my PR3. Well, at least I had a taste of it. Ha,ha, I should say better luck next time.

Busy Day

Travel Tips: Avoiding Baggage Problems

Packing

• Avoid putting the following in checked baggage
• Valuables (cash, jewelry). Don't rely on suitcase locks; they are easily defeated.
• Critical items (medicine, keys, passport, tour vouchers, business papers).
• Irreplaceable items (manuscript, heirlooms).
• Fragile items (camera, eyeglasses, glass containers). If these must be checked, wrap them carefully in padding.
• Perishables.
  

Carry the above items either:

• on your person, or
• in a small bag that you carry on board.
  

Even if a bag is not lost, it may be delayed for a day or two. It is wise to put items that you will need during the first 24 hours in a carry-on bag (toiletries, one change of underwear).

Don't overpack checked bags. This puts pressure on the latches, making it easier for them to spring open.

Your checked bags may need to be opened for a security inspection out of your presence. If you wish to lock your bags, see www.tsa.gov for information on locks that security personnel can open and then re-lock. If you use an unapproved lock and your bag is selected for inspection, the security staff will break the lock if necessary.

Put a tag on the outside of your baggage with your name, home address, and home and work phone numbers. The airlines provide free stick-on tags. Most carriers also have "privacy tags" which conceal this information from passersby.

Put the same information inside each bag, and add an address and telephone number where you can be reached at your destination city.

Carry-on baggage advice:

• Check with the airline for any limits it has on the size, weight, or number of carry-on bags. (There is no single federal standard.)
• Inquire about your flight; different airplanes can have different limits.
• If you are using more than one airline for a trip, check on all of them.
• A heavy bag which fits in an overhead bin may still cause the bin to exceed its weight limit.
• Don't assume that the flight has unlimited closet space for garment bags; some may have to be checked.
• Don't pack anything in a carry-on bag that could be considered a weapon (e.g., scissors, knife).
  

Check-In

Don't check in at the last minute. Even if you make the flight, your bag may not.

Make sure that you get a claim check for every bag that you check. Don't throw them away until your bags are returned. Not only will you need them if a claim is necessary, but you may need to show them to security upon leaving the baggage-claim area. Don't leave them in the seat-pocket on the airplane.

Verify that the agent checking your bags attaches a destination tag to each one. (Remove tags from previous trips to avoid confusion.) Check to see that these tags show the correct three-letter code for your destination airport.

Know where your bags are checked to. They may be checked only to one of your intermediate stops rather than your final destination if:

• you must clear Customs short of your final destination, or
• you are taking a connecting flight involving two airlines which don't have an interline agreement (e.g., Southwest Airlines does not transfer bags to other carriers).
  

If you have a choice, select flights which minimize the potential for baggage disruption. The likelihood of a bag going astray increases as the following numbers get higher:

1. nonstop flights
2. through flights (one or more stops, but no change of aircraft)
3. online connections (change of aircraft but not airlines)
4. interline connections (change of aircraft and airlines)
   

Buy "excess valuation" from the airline if your property is worth more than the airline's liability limit. This limit is usually $3,000 per passenger for domestic flights ($2,800 for flights before February 28, 2007), or 1,000 "Special Drawing Rights" per passenger on most international trips originating in the U.S. See www.imf.org for the value of the SDR.

Your chances of recovery can be improved depending on where and how you bought your airline ticket. Some credit card companies and travel agencies offer optional baggage insurance; some others provide it automatically.

Claiming Your Bags

If your bag arrives open, unlocked or visibly damaged, check immediately to see if any of the contents are missing or damaged.

Report any problems to your airline before leaving the airport. Insist that the airline fill out a form and give you a copy, even if they say the bag will be in on the next flight. Get the agent's name and an appropriate telephone number for following up (not Reservations).

It's not unusual for the airline to take your claim checks when you report the problem; simply make sure this is noted on all copies of the report.

Before leaving the airport, ask the airline if they will deliver the bag without charge when it is found. Also ask about an advance or reimbursement for any items you must buy while your bag is missing.

Open your suitcase immediately when you get to where you are staying. Report any damage to contents or pilferage immediately by telephone. Make a note of the date and time of the call, and the name and telephone number of the person you spoke with. Follow up immediately with a certified letter.

TSA Ready for 'Checkpoint Friendly' Laptop Bags

I just read this press released by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding "Checkpoint Friendly" Laptop Bags. Though it was dated August 5, 2008 but it's still worth sharing especially to those who plan to travel by air bringing their laptops with them.

WASHINGTON – To help streamline the security process and better protect laptops, starting August 16 the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will allow passengers to leave their laptop computers in bags that meet new "checkpoint friendly" standards.

This public-private collaboration took just five months to go from concept to reality. TSA reached out to manufacturers in March to design bags that will produce a clear and unobstructed image of the laptop when undergoing X-ray screening. Designs meeting this objective will enable TSA to allow laptops to remain in bags for screening. More than 60 manufacturers responded and 40 submitted prototypes for testing.

"This is a solid example of government collaborating with the private sector to conceptualize and produce a product that really works to improve and advance the security process," said TSA Administrator Kip Hawley. "We put the challenge out there and bag manufacturers overwhelming responded with innovative products that provide a win-win for travelers and TSA."

For a bag to be considered checkpoint friendly it should meet the following standards:

• A designated laptop-only section
• The laptop-only section completely unfolds to lie flat on the X-ray belt
• No metal snaps, zippers or buckles inside, underneath or on top of the laptop-only section
• No pockets on the inside or outside of the laptop-only section
• Nothing packed in the laptop-only section other than the computer itself.

TSA expects the majority of new bags meeting checkpoint friendly standards to be available for purchase in mid-August. There are a small percentage of bags currently on the market that meet the new standards, include sleeve-like carrying cases without pockets or zippers. These bag types have been tested and can produce a clear, unobstructed image as long as nothing else is in the case.

TSA is not approving or endorsing any bag design or manufacturer and will only allow laptops to stay in bags through screening if they provide a clear and unobstructed X-ray image of the laptop.

To help streamline the security process and better protect laptops, TSA recently encouraged manufacturers to design bags that will produce a clear and unobstructed image of the laptop when undergoing X-ray screening. A design that meets this objective will enable TSA to allow laptops to remain in bags for screening.

Unknown Caller

My celphone rang earlier and I checked who was calling and didn't recognize the phone number which appeared on my phone screen since it was not listed on my phonebook. Most of time time if I received unknown callers I don't answer the call. ID Requirements for Airport Checkpoints

Effective June 21, 2008, adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID that contains the following: name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight.

Passengers who do not or cannot present an acceptable ID will have to provide information to the Transportation Security Officer performing Travel Document Checking duties in order to verify their identity. Passengers who are cleared through this process may be subject to additional screening. Passengers whose identity cannot be verified by TSA may not be allowed to go through the checkpoint or onto an airplane.

Acceptable ID's Include:

• U.S. passport
• U.S. passport card
• DHS "Trusted Traveler" cards (NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
• U.S. Military ID (active duty or retired military and their dependents)
• Permanent Resident Card
• Border Crossing Card
• DHS-designated enhanced driver's license
• Drivers Licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) that meets REAL ID benchmarks (All states are currently in compliance)
• A Native American Tribal Photo ID
• An airline or airport-issued ID (if issued under a TSA-approved security plan)
• A foreign government-issued passport
• Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) card
