When John S. Hendricks and his family first came to Gateway, Colorado in 1995 to build his family home here, he was deeply moved by the beauty and history of the area as well as by the spirit of the people who lived in this remote section of the country. Soon, Mr. Hendricks began to develop a vision—create a sustainable, scenic-based recreation economy designed to replace the area’s long-lost mining economy.
Gateway Canyons Resort is located in Gateway, Colorado approximately 2 hrs from Grand Junction, Colorado. Hubby, me and the children took a tour to this place on the 5th of July the day after Independence Day. It was a beautiful ride and it was my first time to visit Gateway Canyons Resort although it was hubby's second time to visit Gateway, Colorado but it was also his first time to get into the resort. One of the main attractions of Gateway Canyons is the Auto Museum which shows the different models of classic cars way back as early as the 1900's. Below are some of the classic cars that I took photos of.
This car behind me is a 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 which John Hendricks purchased during the Barret-Jackson Classic Car Auction. The car cost $3.24 million which was the highest bid during the auction and was among the top 10 prices ever paid for a classic car.
